I have owned Airedales since 1982. In July, 2009, we lost our last Airedale, Sammy Jo, to liver cancer.  In all, over the years, we have owned six Airedales.  Right now, we have three Border Terriers,  These little guys are very Airedale-like.  When I was doing some research, , the Borders and Airedales were two of only a few breeds of terriers that would be considered good with children.  This factor is very important to me.   All were raised with our Airedales, except for Little Finn.  He was with us only two weeks before Sammy Jo died.  Rocky, one of our Borders, grieved for about two weeks after Sammy Jo died. They were the best of friends-napping together on the bed, and Sammy Jo used to go out at night and lay next to his crate.

I wanted to join the club because, while we don't have an Airedale at the present time, I still love the breed., and want to be around them and meet their owners.

My husband and I have three grown children.  He is retired and gets to spend lots of time with the dogs.  I am a reading teacher for our local school district.  I belong to the local kennel club and take our dogs to obedience classes as well as help at out at the annual dog show in September.
